    I was getting weary of trying to find a book or dvd on yoga that brought together all the elements of a traditional yoga practice, rather than new-fangled hybrids and celebrity-led vehicles that have been flooding the market lately, focusing on the "goal" of doing this pose or that one "perfectly" or being able to "power through" a series of set postures -- all very competitive and... just not what I was looking for.Then I found this book!I love this. Hatha yoga is presented as a form of daily practice (you design your practice yourself, based on your own physical and health needs, your own pace and the time you have to devote to yoga each day or week) -- there are asanas/poses, pranayama/breathing exercises, meditations, visualisations, dietary considerations and health tips. Static poses and also a series of different vinyasas to help with different focuses and aims for your practice. All with a great blend of traditional yoga plus focus on your individual health, needs, journey...."... the journey to discover our own pattern, to look at nature and see what is reflected most strongly in you"And throughout the focus is on what yoga is really about -- as in, not the competative striving after a certain trendy athleticism, but rather...:"Yoga is movement, but not all movement is yoga. Only movement which 'brings togehter' can be said to be yoga. The movement which brings the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual aspects of our being into alignment may be called yoga. That movement which brings the individual life into alignment with the greater continuum of Life.... may be called yoga."So, anyway, cannot rave enough about this book. It's the one (of the about 30 books I own!) that I actually read, re-read, highlight, dog-ear, and use daily. Great stuff.
